State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Md Murad Hassan on Tuesday said the mastermind behind the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman should be unmasked and tried.
“For our children and the future generations, the mastermind behind Bangabandhu killing must be exposed. The name of this killer is Ziaur Rahman. The posthumous trial of this murderer should be held on the soil of Bangla,” he said.
The state minister was addressing a meeting at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) here, marking the National Mourning Day, a ministry press release said.
He said the Father of the Nation had never compromised and betrayed with anyone. “He (Bangabandhu) never feared the bloody eyes of the Pakistani rulers and he never bowed down his head. That is the lesson the Father of the Nation has given us,” he added.
Murad said the posthumous trial of Ziaur Rahman must be held and “we have confidence and trust in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to this end”.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mokbul Hossain also spoke on the occasion with BFDC Managing Director Nuzhat Yasmin in the chair.
The presidents and general secretaries of the Film Producers’ Association and Film Artists Association, among others, were present.
