Bangabandhu 5th Artistic Gymnastics concludes

The Bangabandhu 5th Central South Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championship was concluded at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, was the chief guest on the concluding day.
Zahid Ahsan Russel distributed the prizes among the winners, who won medals in the different events of the gymnastics meet.
State Minister said, ” I am giving thanks to Bangladesh Gymnastics Federations for stage such kind of international gymnastics competition marking the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. I feel proud to be present such kind of gala extravaganza. I thank all the participating countries. I wish all the winners. We want to stage more gymnastics competition in future. Ministry of Youth and Sports will give all sorts of cooperation to Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation to arrange such kind of mega meet in future.”
Uzbekistan bagged 19 gold medals, 11 silver medals and eight bronze medals to gain the top spot. The competition was held on three divisions. They are: Men’s senior, men’s junior and women division. India took the second spot in the medals table with three gold medals, nine silver medals and twelve bronze medals. Bangladesh achieved the third position collecting one silver medal and three bronze medals. Sri Lanka obtained the fourth position with one silver medal and one bronze medal.
A total of six countries took part in the men’s division, while a number of five countries competed in the women’s division.
Hosts Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal participated in the gala gymnastics meet.
Bangladesh-born Russian gymnast Margarita Mamun, who clinched gold medal in Rio Olympics 2016 came Bangladesh recently as the Goodwill Ambassador of the gymnastics competition.
Earlier, Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation arranged Sultana Kamal 4th Central South Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championship in 2011.
