Banani businessman murder mastermind arrested

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) Unit Chief Monirul Islam said in a press briefing at DMP Media Centre on Wednesday that police had arrested Md Helal Uddin, 38, allegedly the mastermind of Banani killing mission.
“Helal was the main planner. He also supplied
 the arms used in the murder”, said Monirul Islam.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) of Police nabbed Helal from Kalachandpur area of Gulshan on Tuesday. They also recovered five firearms from his possession during the drive.
Helal is believed to have link with the student wing of BNP, he added.
During interrogation, Helal admitted that he was present on the spot when the office of Munshi Overseas was stormed, but he didn’t take part in the mission directly.
“Helal and another were waiting outside during the killing. Four persons were seen to crime commit on CCTV. We have identified two killers as Pichhi Alamin and Saddam,” they said.
Siddik Hossen Munshi, 50, owner of recruitment agency Munshi Overseas was shot dead in his Banani office on November 14.
As many as six arms and 25-26 rounds of bullets were used in the mission and three others injured.
The slain businessman’s wife Joshna Begum, as a plaintiff, filed a case with Banani Police Station, accusing four people over the incident. Banani Police Station later handed over the case to DB.
