Automation to ensure uninterrupted power supply

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Sunday said automation in the power sector will ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in the country.
“Access to electricity will be ensured to all people even in the regions of inaccessible hilly and isolated island through submarine cable and solar mini grid by coming December ,” he said this while speaking at a virtual seminar on Sunday.
Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) organized the seminar on Forth Industrial Revolution: Bangladesh Perspective with its President Md Nurul Huda in the chair.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar was also present as the chief guest, while state minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak as the special guest.
Awami League Science and Technology Affairs Secretary and former President of IEB Engineer Md Abdus Sabur and Director General of Power Cell and Vice President of IEB Engineer Mohammad Hossain spoke in the seminar.
Nasrul said the country’s power sector is also being fully digitized following the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In the meantime, the power division has started implementation of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
“Power division has also taken preparation for smart pre-payment meter, smart grid system, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, underground cabling and big data analysis,” he said.
The state minister said installation of underground cabling at Dhanmondi area already started which will be connected with the smart SCADA center and Internet of Things (IoT).
He said uninterrupted and quality services will be provided to customer with analysis of big data.
Vice Chancellor of Canadian University of Bangladesh Professor Dr Engineer Muhammad Mahfuzul Islam presented the keynote paper.
