Another member of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-11) testified as a witness in a local court on Tuesday in connection with the sensational seven-murder incident.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Monwara Begum recorded the statement of Corporal Jahangir Alam.
Jahangir Alam described in detail the abduction of the seven people to dumping their bodies into the river, said Mamunur Rashid Mondal, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Detective Branch (DB) of police and also the investigation officer of two cases filed over the gruesome murders.
On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. At the same time, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river on May 1.
A number of Rab men, including Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif Hossain, Lt Commander MM Rana who were arrested earlier, confessed to their involvement in the sensational seven murders.
