The annual sports and prize giving ceremony 2016-17 of BAF Shaheen English Medium School (SEMS) was held on Saturday in the BAF school premises in the city, said a ISPR press release.
Air Vice Marshal M Abul Bashar, OSP, ndc, psc,Air, officer commanding, BAF Base Bashar was the chief guest in the prize giving ceremony. He congratulated the winning athletes and distributed the prizes among the winners.
This year Mercury House emerged as champions with 11 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze medals while Jupiter House finished as runners-up with 8 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze medals.
Nuzhat Sabah of Mars House was named the best athlete of the year. This time boys flight of Venus House was adjudged as the best flight in the annual parade held on this occasion.
On this occasion, the chief guest, in his speech applauded the remarkable feat attained by the students of the school both in the field of academic and extra-curricular activities. He congratulated the principal, teachers and students for their different achievements.
Group captain M Mamunur Rashid, afwc, psc, Principal of BAF Shaheen English Medium School also gave his speech on the occasion highlighting the importance of sports on student life and encouraged students for their participation.
He also thanked Air Vice Marshal M Abul Bashar, OSP, ndc, psc, Air officer Commanding, BAF Base Bashar and the Chairman Managing Committee, BAF SEMS for his valued guidance and constant motivation. Begum Tasneem Esrar, wife of Chief of Air Staff and President, Bangladesh Air Force Women Welfare Association (BAFWWA) also present in the programme and gave individual prizes among the winners. Finally, Chief Guest handed over champion and runner-up trophies to the Mercury House and Jupiter House respectively. The function was attended by high officials of Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, parents, teachers, office staffs and students of the school.
