Staff Reporter :Awami League-backed candidates Annisul Huq, Sayeed Khokon and AJM Nasir Uddin were unofficially declared elected mayors of Dhaka North and Dhaka South and Chittagong city corporations respectively on Wednesday. Annisul Huq polled 460,117 votes while his BNP-backed contender Tabith Awal got 325,080 in all 1093 centres in the DNCC.Tabith pulled out himself from the poll race bringing allegations of stuffing of ballots by the ruling party men for his contender Annisul at 12noon on Tuesday.DSCC ruling party-backed candidate Sayeed Khokon with ‘Hilsa’ symbol bagged 535,296 votes while BNP-backed mayoral candidate Mirza Abbas got 294,291 in 886 voting centers out of a total 889.Mirza Abbas’s wife Afroza Abbas also announced withdrawal from polls on behalf of her husband following party decision to quit brining similar allegations of stuffing ballots by the ruling party men. AJM Nasir Uddin with ‘Elephant’ symbol bagged 475,361 votes from 719 centres. His nearest rival Manjur Alam managed 304,837 votes with ‘Orange’ symbol.Returning Officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed said 48.57 percent of the votes were cast in the DSCC elections.
