Abdul Muqit Chowdhury :”Allah Ta’ala says : Fasting is exclusively for Me (Allah) and I Myself shall give rewards.” (Hadith-e-Qudsi)This Hadith throws light on the special importance of fasting, as Allah Himself assures of rewarding Rozadars as it is observed only for Him. Rasulullah (SM) said, “All his/her sins of past will be forgiven by Allah, who observes fasting with firm faith and clear conception of principle.” (Bukhari Sharif) “There is a door of Heaven called Raiyan. Those who observe fasting will be only allowed to proceed to the Heaven through this door on the Day of Judgement. Others will not be able to enter through this way.” (Bukhari Sharif) Rasulullah (SM) said, “There is Zakah for all things and the Zakah of the body is fasting.” (Mishkat al Masabih) ‘Zakah’ means ‘purification’. Fasting purifies soul and help human being to attain spirituality. Narrated by Abdullah Ibne Umar (RA) : Rasulullah (SM) said, “Two noble things will recommend for the created being on the Day of Resurrection. One is fasting. Fasting will say, O my Lord, I have kept him/her abstain from food, drink and sexual propensities. So accept my recommendation on him/her. The other thing will be the Quran. The Quran will say, I have caused him/her to be deprived of comfortable sleep. So, accept my recommendation on him/her. And Allah will accept both the recommendations.””In order to attain that goal, the person keeping fast must control and restrain all the sense organs of his body, like eyes, ears and tongue. Ideally, even the thoughts in his mind also should be free from impurity. After all, a person’s fast need to be accepted by Allah as otherwise it will not meet the requirement of fast and will be a mere abstinence from food and drink.” [Guidance from the Qur’an by Salahuddin Ahmed, Fasting (Siyam), P.95] Let us be perfect Muslims observing the Code of life as ordained by Allah in the Holy Quran and demonstrated by the greatest Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) in the Sunnah.
