BSS, Dhaka :Textile and jute minister Md Emaz Uddin Paramanik Friday said the government is committed to provide all-out cooperation to business community for the expansion of cotton industry in the country.”Business community will be given all-out support for the expansion of cotton industry because this vibrant cotton industry is needed for the economic progress of the country,” said the minister while speaking as chief guest at the opening session of the two-day “Global Cotton Summit Bangladesh 2015” at a city hotel.The minister said Bangladesh imports a huge amount of cotton every year because of its poor production in the country.Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) President Tapan Chowdhury, Bangladesh Cotton Association (BCA) President Muhammad Ayub, BTMA’s former President Jahangir Al Amin, Mark Messura of Cotton Incorporated, USA and Policy Research Institution Chairman Dr Zaidi Sattar, among others, spoke on the occasion.More than 250 delegates from 20 countries, including India, Pakistan, China, Turkey, the US, the UK, and other countries are participating in the summit, jointly organized by BTMA and BCA. A total of 13 sessions will be held during the two-day summit.
