Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon said the members of government-run “Shishu Paribar” would require to be groomed as skilled and capable citizens through coordinated efforts of all and mainstreaming them.
In this regard, the minister urged the affluent section of the society to come forward in aid of the members of the “Shishu Paribar” from their respective positions as they are orphans.
The minister said this on Monday while speaking at a post-wedding reception accorded to six members of Government Shishu Paribar at Tejgaon.
Menon said social service is a constitution responsibility and there is no scope to ignore it. The government alone cannot render social services, he said adding it requires participation of the people from all walks of life to supplement the social works.
Government Shishu Paribar (Tejgaon) and District Social Welfare Office organized the function.
The six brides are Lipi Akthar, Sabina Chowdhury, Swapna Begum, Tania Akhtar, Mazeda Begum and Hajera Lakhi while bridegrooms are Saiful Islam Bhuiyan of Comilla, Kasir Uddin of Thakurgaon, Haroon-or-Rashid of Patuakhali, Shah Jalal of Gazipur, Robiul Islam of Faridpur and Mohammad Shohag of Chandpur districts.
Director General of Social Welfare Directorate Gazi Muhammad Nurul Kabir, Additional Secretary to the Social Welfare Ministry Sushanta Kumar Pramanik, Deputy Commissioner of the district Salauddin and local ward Commissioner Shafiullah Shofi were present.
Later, the minister handed over cash money to the newly-wed couples.
