Bangladesh Railway (BR) is going to start selling of train tickets in advance from July 20 (Sunday) aiming to ease the travel of home-bound people to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. The BR will issue tickets on Sunday for July 24.
Passengers can buy tickets in advance on online as well as from the counters. Tickets will be available at Kamalapur Railway Station in capital city and also at Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur and other important railway stations across the country.
The tickets for July 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 will be available on July 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 respectively.
Besides, sale of return tickets will start from July 27. The return tickets for July 31 and August 1,2,3 and 4 will be available from July 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31.
Each passenger can buy a maximum of four tickets.
Talking to BSS, M Tafazzal Hossain, Director General of BR, said they will also operate five pairs of special train in different destinations for the convenience of commuters for the Eid.
He said, the special trains will run on Dhaka-Dewanganj Bazaar, Dhaka-Parbitipur, Dhaka-Khulna and Chittagong- Chandpur routes.
The special trains will start movement three days ahead of Eid and continue till 5-7 days from after a day of Eid, added BR director general.
He said the BR has renovated 166 coaches which will be incorporated with different trains.
Law enforcers will be deployed in the railway stations to maintain law and order during selling tickets.
