Actress Ferdousi Ahmed Lina passes away

Noted film and television actress Ferdousi Ahmed Lina died last night at around 11.55pm at her residence. She was 63.
Information Technology Secretary of Acting Artists Association Sujat Shimul said Lina was suffering from kidney complications for a long time.
However, she was regular in acting, he said, adding that last time, she was seen taking part in shooting for BTV.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Lina.
In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Lina got enormous popularity by doing an advertisement of a butter oil in the 1975.
Ferdousi Ahmed Lina first appeared on television in a butter oil advertisement in 1975. A couple of years later, she began her journey as an actor with the tele-fiction Kalo Kokil, which aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV). Soon, she made her way to the film industry by playing the role of Obhoya in Bulbul Ahmed’s Rajlakshmi Srikanta (1987). Her last film was Devdas (2013), helmed by Chashi Nazrul Islam.
Over the years, she has acted in many well-received television drama series, including Gulshan Avenue, Nandini, Ghotok Pakhi Bhai and Neel Jochonai Kalo Shaap. Alongside acting, she also served as an official at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy until 2017.
