The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has taken an initiative to open ‘honesty stores’ in schools across the country to help students practice virtues and check temptations of practical life.
The anti-corruption watchdog came up with the idea after non government school in 13 upazolas of Kishoreganj introduced such a shop.
The ‘honesty store’ is a kind of shop where there will be no shopkeeper and designated customers (students) will pick his or her chosen commodity and drop the money in the cash-box of the store.and
Even there will have no guard to keep an watch on the shop. ACC including District Administration in Kishoreganj arranged a cheques, prize distribution and education equipment among the 26 brilliant students in” honesty stores, Kishoreganj at local Collectorate Conference Room on Wednesday noon.
DC Mohammad Shamim Alam attended as chief guest and Deputy Director (DD) in Mymensingh Zone Abul Hossion as special guest, while DD in Kishoreganj Md.Salauddin in the chair.
It was addressed among others by, Retd.Headmistress Khaleda Akhter , Senior Journalist and TIB -Sanak leader Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu.
CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito and others dignified persons were also present.
DC Mohammad Shamim Alam said, “Honesty is a matter of habit and practice.”
DD Abul Hossion said the ACC wants to make the young generation of the county conscious about corruption.
ACC officials said, more ‘honesty stores’ will be opened in other schools in the future.
Pen, pencils, paper, other educational materials and fast foods will be available at the stores, the ACC officials added.
The authorities also said they have already finalised a policy to install and run the store.
According to the policy, the school committee will fund the ‘honesty store’ which will be set up on the respective school campuses.
It is to be noted that the ACC introduced ‘honesty clubs’ at many educational institutions across the country,, ACC added.
