The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a probe into the wealth of Munshiganj-1 lawmaker and Bikalpa Dhara Joint Secretary General Mahi B Chowdhury and his wife.
The graft watchdog launched the investigation on allegations that he and his wife Ashfah Huq laundered money overseas and has accumulated wealth by illegal means.
ACC Deputy Director Jalal Uddin Ahmed sent a notice to the couple on Sunday asking them to be present at the ACC office on Wednesday (August 7) at 10:00 am.A senior ACC official said there are complaints that Mahi and his wife laundered money abroad.
They have been called to identify the source of the money, added the official.
ACC also informed that support and assistance from different banks and other institutions are being taken to get detailed information about the wealth of Mahi.
In a letter, the ACC mentioned that there are allegations against the Bikalpadhara Bangladesh joint secretary general of accumulating illegal wealth and laundering money.
