Despite being absent, an applicant ranked 12th in the ‘B Unit’ admission test of 2019-20 academic session of Cumilla University (CoU).
The student was identified as Md Sazzatul Islam.
B Unit test was held on November 8 and Sazzatul’s exam centre was at Teachers Training College, Cumilla.
During the exam, students were provided with an attendance sheet to sign in. But when this reporter checked the attendance sheet, Sazzatul was shown absent.
However, on November 12, after the result was published, Sazzatul
(roll no 206050) was found holding the 12th position.
B Unit admission test committee convener Professor Dr Masuda Kamal declined to comment on the matter over phone and asked this reporter to meet her at the office.
On the other hand, Dr Md Shamimul Islam, a member secretary of the committee, said Sazzatul did not attend viva-voce and hence will not be able to get enrolled.
Sazzatul Islam could not be reached for comments for this article.
