Abdullah Abu Sayeed receives ‘Ananda Alo Sahitya Puroskar’

This year the ‘Golandaz Ananda Alo Sahitya Puraskar-2021’ was conferred to noted educationist, writer and founder chairman of Bishwa Sahitya Kendra Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed. He received the prize, on his birthday, on July 25. The award ceremony was held
on the premises of Channel i, said a press release.
After receiving the award Abdullah Abu Sayeed said, “Not for fame but want to work happily all my life. I want to live with the love of people. I dream of contributing to educating the nation and this will be my dream till the last day of my life.”
Member of the Parliament Fahmi Gulandaz Babel, son of Altaf Hossain Golandaz, Editor of Ananda Alo Rezanur Rahman, prominent children’s writer Amirul Islam, popular actor and presenter Shahriar Nazim Joy were present at the ceremony and also spoke on the occasion. In the ceremony, Abdulah Abu Sayeed was given the prize money of Tk 1 one lak, a crest and some other gifts. The award has been introduced by Ananda Alo in memory of the late Altaf Hossain Golondaz, a renowned Bangladesh Awami League politician of Mymensignh’s Gafargaon Upazila.
Born on July 25, 1939 at Park Circus in Kolkata, Abdullah Abu Sayeed was started his career as a part-time lecturer at Government Haraganga College in Munshiganj. Later, he joined Dhaka College. In the 1960s, he edited the literary magazine, Kanthoswar.
He founded the Bishwa Sahitya Kendra in 1978 to build an enlightened society.
