Abahani Limited and Usha Krira Chakra emerged joint-champions in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League when Abahani Limited defeated Usha Krira Chakra by three goals to nil in their last Super League clash at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
Abahani led the first session 1-0.
Abahani’s Pakistani recruit Kashif Ali put his team ahead by a field goal in the seventh minute of the first half.
Pushkor Khisa Mimo of Abahani Limited doubled the margin by a field goal in the 65th minute of the play.
Mimo sealed the fate of the match by a field goal just one minute before the long whistle.
Abahani Limited and Usha Krira Chakra secured 24 points each from their respective nine matches.
Later, an emergency meeting of League Committee was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) on the same day.
The members of the Committee decided that no play-off match will be held to decide the championship due to unavoidable circumstances. Thus the members of the Committee decided to declare the both teams as joint-champions. Then the Working Committee of BHF approved the proposal and Abahani Limited and Usha Krira Chakra were declared the joint-champions of the meet.
