At least 800 families are living in different risky places in Rangamati town and its adjoining areas violating the instruction of local administration.
Rangamati District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Bishwanath Majumder and Upazila Relief Officer Rangamati Sadar Md. Tayub visited Shimultali and others vulnerable places and asked them to go to safe places but the people refused.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Shamsul Arefeen said heavy rainfall in last few days paralyzed the life and damaged properties in Rangamati.
DC has asked All Upazila Nirbahi officers (UNO) to report about the damage. A monitoring cell has been set up at DC office, sources said.
