7th Ctg Furniture Fair begins in port city

A 5-day long 7th Chittagong Furniture Fair-2015 began in the port city from Wednesday at GEC convention centre in the city .
 Bangladesh Furniture Industries Owners Association, Chittagong divisional unit arranged the 7th Furniture fair at GEC convention centre. City mayor AJM Nasiruddin formally inaugurated the fair as chief guest presided over by the Divisional Acting President of BFIOA M A Naser .
 Thespecial guests that were present in the inaugural session are- central chairman of BFIOA Selim H Rahman, General Secretary Elias Sarkar and the vice President & Convenor of Fair committee Maksudur Rahaman .
 Among others members of Fair committee SN Azam khan, Iftikhar Uddin , Saifuddin Chowdhury, Mujibor Rahman Jubair Hossain, Md. Iqbal , chamber Director Wahid Siraj chy Chairman of Chittagong Eventz Alhaj Shahabuddin and panel mayor Nesaruddin Manju were present in the dais. Acting President of Divisional unit MA Naser delivered address of welcome on the occasion.
The fair will remain open for all without any entry fee from 10 am to 9 pm everyday. The press meet was told that aimed at attracting the local furnitures further in the country than the imported one, this fair is being organized. Besides, Govt, European Union and BFIOA jointly working for exporting the Bangladeshi furniture abroad. The written statement in the press meet was told that in last one year, export of furniture increased by 10% and furniture exported for about Tk.400 crores. The speakers in the press meet said if govt relax import duty on raw materials and other accessories of furniture industries and other taxes, the export volume will go up gradually with desired level. The press meet also said Taiwan , Korea , Japan and other foreign organizations are working in the country to develop the furniture industries. 31 furniture industries are expected to join the fair, sources said.
Mentionable that Legacy Furnitures, Brothers Furniture, Hatil Furnitures, GMG Plus Furniture, Vegas Furniture, Luxury Furniture and Freedom Furniture Industry are the co-sponsor of the fair, sources said. Besides, Bijoy TV, Ctg News.com and Radio Authoi will extend their services as media partners.
City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin in his brief deliverations thanked the organizers of the fair for arranging this fair for 7th time in the port city.
 
City Mayor emphasizes for boosting exports of furniture products abroad in coming days . He said Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina is advancing rapidly and hence all the private sector should follow the paths of the present govt. He urged the furniture sector to intensify the exports of furniture aimed at earning huge foreign exchange earnings .
He also stressed on popularity of locally made furniture rather foreign imported furniture. The fair declared opened following the release of ballons infront of the fair venue, sources said.
