Russian House in Dhaka and Soviet Alumni Association, Bangladesh (SAAB) organised a memorial programme to dedicate the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, said a press release. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh AV Mantytskiy, President of SAAB Taqsem Ahmed Khan, General Secretary of the Bangladesh-Russia Friendship Society Dr Prof Shahidullah Sikder, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka ME Dobrokhotov, representatives of NGOs and the Russian Association compatriots ‘Rodina.’
The participants honoured the memory of 27 million Soviet people who gave their lives in the fight against Nazi Germany, noted the decisive contribution of the Soviet Union in liberating the world from the ‘brown plague’ and called for stopping all attempts to revive the fascist ideology.
The event ended by a solemn concert and the opening ceremony of the Great Patriotic War exhibition.
