At least seven more persons including a Jubo League leader, police, two college students and two dancers were killed and 30 others seriously injured in separate road crashes across the country on Saturday.
In Sylhet, at least two college girls were killed when a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in South Surma area on Saturday.
They were identified as Lia Begum, 17, daughter of one Syed Mojlish Ali from south Surma area and Aysha Siddika, 18, daughter of one Liakat Hossain of the same area. They were cousins in relation.
Local sources said, a bus leaving from Sylhet collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw in Bodikona Pashchim Para area, leaving Lia dead on the spot, around 3:30, pm but Aysha succumbed to her injuries later.
South Surma Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ripon Das told the news to media.
In Narayanganj, two bike-riders including dancers were killed and another injured when a truck rammed a motorcycle on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway on Friday night.
The accident took place at Aukhabo area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district.
The deceased were identified as Hridhoy Gazi, 30, of Mugdah area and Sharmin Akhter, 18, daughter of Zafar Miah, of the same area. The injured was Akhi Akhter, 16, daughter of Noor Alam from Gazipur. Three of them were dancers.
The bodies were recovered while the motorbike and the killer truck were seized,

In Chattogram, a local Jubo League Leader named Didarul Islam, 32, was killed in a road crash when a passenger bus hit his bike in Satkania of the district on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased Didar was an Organizing Secretary of Kewchiya Ward no-6 of the upazila and was son of one Rafiqual Islam.
Officer In-Charge (OC) of Highway Police Mizanur Rahman told the news media.
In Gazipur, a constable of police was killed in a road crash in front of Maona Highway Police Station on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur on Saturday afternoon.
Deceased Nazrul Islam, 51, worked with special unit of Naogaon district police. He came to Tongi to perform duties at Biswa Ijtema venue.
Maona Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Haridas confirmed the matter.
In Narsingdi, a minor child, 5, was killed and 12 others critically injured when truck rammed a passenger bus at Putimari area of Belabo of the district.
The identity of the deceased couldn’t be known yet.
