At least seven persons including a police constable and local BCL leader were killed in road crashes across the country on Tuesday.
In Dhaka, a constable of traffic police named Hemayet Hossain, 50, was killed when a passenger bus rammed him at the city’s Victoria Park of Sutrapur on Tuesday noon.
Meanwhile, a youth named Sharif, 33, died in a road accident in Dolaipar area of the city on Tuesday morning.
In Tangail, a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed when an auto-rickshaw hit a motorcycle at Sonamuri under Gopalpur Upazila of the district on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Nirab Hassan, 22, son of one late Abul Kashem.
Local sources said that Nirab was the President of Pingna Union unit of BCL in Sarishabari Upazila and a student of honours first year in Department of Political Science at Sujat Ali College.
In Bogura, a motorcyclist was killed when a truck rammed his vehicle in Dhunat upazila on Tuesday morning.
Deceased Zahangir Alam, 35, was the son of Abu Bakkar, a resident of Baniagati village of Gopalnagar union under the upazila.
Police, however, seized the truck, but its driver managed to flee the scene.
In Sunamganj, a woman named Baharun Nesa, 65, was killed when an auto-rickshaw hit her on the Satok-Jawya Road of the district on Tuesday morning.
In Nababganj (Dhaka), a woman named Begum Akter, 48, was killed in a tragic road accident in Jontail area of the upazila on Monday evening.
