A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile court on Sunday sentenced seven employees of six spice factories in the city’s Karwan Bazar area to seven days’ imprisonment each on charge of producing contaminated spices.
The court also destroyed around 1,000 kg of adulterated spices.
Sources at the RAB headquarters said executive magistrate Md Helal Uddin conducted the mobile court
drive in six spice-manufacturing factory of Karwan Bazar Masla Patti from 12:30pm.
During the drive, the mobile court found that tainted spices were being produced in the factories.
Later, the mobile court fined the six factories Tk 20,000 each regard.
As they did not pay the fine, it jailed seven employees of the factories for seven days.
Deputy director of RAB-2 Md Didarul Alam (media) and BSTI Inspector Sekander Mahmud were present during the anti-adulteration drive.
