As part of the government’s campaign to bring all landless and homeless families under housing facility, at least 631 houses in the second phase will be handed over among the landless and homeless people in 13 upazilas of Kishoreganj.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Kishoreganj Mohamad Shamim Alam in a press briefing at local Circuit house conference room on Friday morning said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the programme of handing over at least 53,340 houses among the homeless people on Sunday (June,20) through video conference..
DC Mohamad Shamim Alam also said construction work of the houses has almost been completed. The work on setting up electric connection and installing of tube well for drinking water is progressing fast, he added.
DC Office sources said under the shelter project of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 270 houses rehabilitate landless and homeless people at Aralia and Mojlishpur projects in Itna haor upazila of Kishoreganj.
Each semi-brick building with corrugated iron sheet roof house on two decimal of Khas land was constructed at a cost of Tk. 1, 90,000.
After inauguration registered deed of the houses and land will be handed over to the beneficiaries.
However, in first phase 616 landless and homeless families got houses in Kishoreganj on January 23, 2021.
Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of Local Government (LG) Md. Habibur Rahman, ADC (Revenue) Md.Nooruzzaman ,ADC (General) Golam Mostafa,ADM Farida Yesmin, Sadar UNO Abdul Kadir Miah , Sadar AC, land Shaguptha Haque and Magistrate Mahamudul Islam among others spoke at the Press conference..
