A court here on Monday convicted six people and sentenced them to death for killing a businessman in 2008.
The condemned convicts are Soleman, Ripon, Jahangir, Akkas, Ohid alias Ronny and Akhter Hossain of Araihajar upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution, a gang of robbers swooped on Monir Hossain, a businessman of Rupganj on his way home at Bhulta Gausia in Rupganj upazila on July 25, 2008.
Resisted by Monir, the bandits killed him after tying up his hands and legs.
Hasina Begum, wife of
Monir Hossain, filed a case in this connection. After examining the records and witnesses, Additional Sessions Judge Court Narayanganj-2 Miaji Shahidul Alam Chowdhury handed down the verdict.
