At least five members of the family, including three children, suffered burn injuries due to gas line explosion on the ground floor of a five-storey building at Shyampur in the city early Friday.
The fire broke out in a room of their residence located on the Road No. 3 adjacent to the Lal Mosque at Shyampur, said Officer-in-Charge of Kadamtali Police Station Abdul Jalil.
All the injured were immediately admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in
a critical condition, the police official said.
The injured are- Md Enayet, 40, his wife Mariam Begum, 37, and their three children namely Anny, 5, Habiba, 3, and Jubayer, 2.
When contacted, Farhaduzzaman, Inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, said, the fire might have originated from an explosion in the gas line at about 3:00 am.
