Mother and her four kids died in a fire at their house at Hathazari in Chittagong on Monday last.
Police and fire service said the incident happened at Mahbub Alam’s house at Kumirakul in Mirzapur at around 8:30pm.
A fire-fighting unit from Hathazari fire station doused the blaze some half an hour later.The fire fighting units rushed to the spot at about 9 pm , sources said.
Hathazari fire station Officer Zohirul Islam confirmed of the death of five members of one family and they could not ascertained the reasons for fire . Investigation is continuting to find out the reasons of fire incident.
He said fire fighters retrieved their charred bodies. The deceased are Alam’s wife Rosy Akter, 35, their three daughters Liza Akter, 12, Sima Akter, 10 and Jhuma Akter, 7 and son ‘Maruf’, 5.Hathazari Police Station OC Md Ismail told that Mahbub was not at home when the fire broke out.
Agrabad fire service Assistant Deputy Director Jasim Uddin said they were investigating the incident.
