At least five people were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC) on Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses said there had been longstanding disputes between the two BCL groups-one led by SZRMC unit president Mirazul Islam and the other by general secretary Atikur Rahman-over establishing their supremacy on the campus.
As a sequel to the enmity, both groups engaged in a clash around 4pm on Sunday.
A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left five people injured from the both sides.
They are Shubhasish, 24, Russel, 24, Alvi, 24, Tiffen, 22, and Asifuzzaman, 23.
On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid further trouble.
