Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj :At least five female Ansar officials were drowned and three others missing after a boat capsized in Gouratra river at Mithamoin upazila ghat in Kishoreganj district on Sunday morning.The victims have been identified as team leader Asma Begum (48), wife of Rafiqul Islam, Beauty Roy (38), wife of Narayan Shaha Roy, Sabiara Begum (45), wife of Rafiq, Momena, wife of Abdul Mannan, and Ambia Khatun from Nikli upazila. Police Super Anowar Hossain Khan said that they were returning home after completing their election duties. The boat carrying excess passengers capsized within a few minutes after it left Mithamoin Bazar Ghat around 5 am on Sunday.The local people recovered the bodies soon after the incident. Three other Ansar members were also rescued from the river.On information Local M.P Rejowan Ahmed Toufique, Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas and Police Super Anower Hossain Khan visited the spot and took care of the other passengers.Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas said that the bodies of the female Ansar were handed over to their relatives and Tk 20,000 was given to each of the lost Ansar.
