A four-grader girl has become pregnant being raped by her cousin brother in Domrakandi village of Mahmudpur Union under Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj district around five months ago.
Doctors of a local clinic confirmed the girl’s five-month pregnancy conducting a medical test.
The 11-year old rape victim is a student of Class IV of Satashi Government Primary School in the village.
The victim’s father Abdul Malek filed a case accusing seven persons, including two women, on May 2, said Imanur Rahman, Sub-Inspector and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case.
The accused are Seyed Sheikh alias Sumon, Mamun, Tareq, Sohrab, Alamin, Ratna and Ranu, the police official said.
The victim’s sister seeking anonymity told The New Nation on Tuesday, “Seyed Sheikh raped the girl in their house with the help of other accused when she was reading a book alone as other family members were out of home for doing personal duties in the last week of December in 2016. But we could not first believe the incident, nor we disclosed it to others fearing embarrassment in the society.”
We took her in a local clinic for medical test as her abdomen was swelling day by day like what happens usually to a pregnant woman. After checking, the doctors confirmed that she had conceived a baby five months ago.
Now we may have to leave the village, as the village arbitration may punish us because pre-marriage physical contact between a man and a woman is an offence in the light of religion, she alleged.
Some people in our village are doing local politics to tarnish the dignity of us, she adding “We want the punishment to the rapist and his aides.”
Kashiani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Alinur Hossen said that police are trying to arrest the accused.
