47 houses gutted in Panchagarh, Goalanda

At least 40 dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Sonapur village under Boda upazila of the district last night.
The fire, originated from one Kharul Islam’s kitchen of the village, soon engulfed the adjacent houses.
On information, fire fighters from Boda station rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after more than an hour of frantic efforts with the help of locals.
Hundreds mound of paddy, rice, furniture and cash were completely reduced to ashes in the fire. Salah Uddin, the deputy commissioner of Panchagarh, visited the spot and distributed rice and cash among the affected families this morning.
Each family got 30-KG of rice and Taka 2,000.
UNB from Goalanda adds: At least seven houses were gutted in a fire which broke out at Sahadat Member Para village in Goalanda upazila on Thursday.
Affected house owners said the fire originated from the kitchen room of Akbar Ali and soon engulfed the adjoining houses at about 5:00pm.
Being informed a fire fighting unit from Rajbari rushed in and doused the flame with the help of local people.
