The 45th death anniversary of the noted politician and parliamentarian of Chittagong AKM Fazlul Kabir Chowdhury will be observed today at his fraternal residence in Gohira, Raozan upazila of Chittagong at 11 .00 am through arranging khatme Quoran, milad and Doa Mahfil .
Politician AKM Fazlul Kabir is the father of incumbent lawmaker and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Railway ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury . Fazlul Kabir died of cardiatic arrest on 9 September, 1972 at his Dhaka residence .
He was the leader of the opposition in erstwhile East Pakistan Assembly and Chairman of Legislative Council of the then East Pakistan .
Besides, Fazlul Kabir Chowdhury was Vice chairman of erstwhile Chittagong Port Trust, President of Chittagong chamber of commerce, Governor of Merchantile Marine Academy and councilor of Chittagong District council, sources said.
He was born in Gohira village of Raozan Upazila on 1 September, 1917 in a respectable family zamindar family of Khan Bahadur Abdur Jabbar Chowdhury.
