Four shops were gutted when a big fire broke out in Mollarbazar within Dhansagar Union Parishad under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district at Sunday night, according to a delayed report received here.
It is learnt from a source of Sharankhola fire service that at the night at about 2 pm the fire originated from one of the gutted shops due to an electricity short circuit spread to other shops and went out of control within a short of time. On seeing the flame of fire neighbouring people rushed to the spot and tried to extinguish the fire. By this time being informed of the matter a fire service unit reached the place of occurrence from Shrankhola headquarters and brought the fir under control after a long fight for about one hour with the help of the locals. In spite of that 4 shops including one medicine pharmacy, one grocery shop, a tea stall and a saloon. Asaduzzaman Swapan, panel UP Chairman of Dhansagar disclosed the loss of fire is estimated at Tk.4 lakh.
