4 reporters get Poultry Media Award

Eight reporters in four categories were awarded in the ‘Poultry Media Award-2016’, held yesterday at CIRPAP auditorium organised by the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC), says a press release.
 Ziaul Haque Mizan, Senior Reporter, the Daily Naya Diganta won the first prize in ‘Newspaper’ category where as Tutul Rahman, Senior Reporter, the Daily Bhorer Kagoj won the 2nd prize and Mirza Shakil, Tangail correspondent of the Daily Star won the 3rd prize.
 The Chief Reporter, Bhuiyan Nazrul of the Daily Suprobhat Bangladesh published from Chittagong, own the only prize in report published in newspaper outside Dhaka’ category.
Dr. M. Bayezid Morol, executive producer (program), own first prize in `TV & Radio’ category, whereas Maidur Rahman Rubel, Staff Reporter, RTV own the 2nd prize and Mohammad Maksudul Hassan own the 3rd prize. Rahmat Ullah, staff correspondent of Banglanews24.com own the only prize in `News Agency/Online’ category.
 The first prize winners were awarded with 50 thousand taka prize money, 2nd prize winners got 40 thousand taka and 3rd prize winners got 30 thousand taka each. All the winners received crests and certificates from BPICC.  
 The award giving ceremony was presided by BPICC president Moshiur Rahman. The awards were handed over by the jury board members of the Poultry Media Award-2016: Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Editor in Chief, Ekushey Television; Abdul Quayum, Associate Editor, the Daily Prothom Alo; Md. Mofizur Rahman, Professor and Chairman, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, D.U.; and Shyamal Dutta, Editor, the Daily Bhorer Kagoj. Bulbul expressed satisfaction for huge response from the reporters. He said, besides general poultry issues some important issues like MDG, SDG, Poultry Recycling, Impact of Climate Change on Poultry industry, etc. were covered by the media reports.
Moshiur Rahman said, awareness needed to raise among general mass about health and nutritional issues. He said, there were negative propaganda and conception about poultry egg and meat, which needed to be changed.

He expected support from the Ministry of Information for promoting egg and chicken meat in public media. Mr. Rahman committed to continue the Poultry Media Award, every year and announced Fellowship for journalists from the next year.
