The two mobile courts separately jailed 31 Aggyan party members of different terms from four months to two years on Thursday.
Executive Magistrates Abdul Quddus and Sarwar Alam of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) passed the order after hearing.
The Detective Branch (DB) in separate drives arrested them from the city’s different parts on Wednesday night, the detective official sources said.
They also seized a huge quantity of stimulating medicine and foods and used in making people unconscious and Tk 50,000 in cash from their possession.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said this in a press briefing in the city on Thursday.
DB police arrested six members of Shariful gang from Fakirapool, five members of Zahid gang from Gulistan, four members of Jalil Bepari gang from Kamalapur, five members of Mowla gang from Mohakhali Bus Stand, six members of Suman gang from Airport Intersection and four members of Mamun gang from Kalshi in Mirpur, the DMP Spokesman said.
DB arrested Mizanur Rahman Pintu, owner of Gowsia Pharmacy from Fakirapool along with 725 pieces of ATVN tablets, 10 mailam tablets and six dormicam tablets, used in making people unconscious. A case has been lodged against Pintu under Special Powers Act, he said.
Pintu during preliminary interrogation confessed that some gangs used to purchase stimulating tablets from him, the police official said.
The sentenced people were identified as Mizanur Rahman Pintu, 42, Jalil Bepari, 55, Rashid, 42, Babu,32, Kamruzzaman, 25, Zahid, 22, Niamul Haque, 21, Khokon Mia, 23, Moslem Mollah, 35, Alam, 22, Mizanur, 42, Shariful, 48, Sanwar,35, Rezaul,40, Osman Gani, 25, Lal Mia, 45, Gias Uddin, 25, Mamun,40, Shaheed Ahmed, 26, Ferdous, 25, Abu Taher, 28, Moqsed Molla, 40, Suman, 23, Babu, 18, Abdul Qader, 40, Suman, 25, Mowla Sarder, 28, Md Oli, 18, Aminul Islam, 25, Jony,19 and Shaon Ahmed,18.
