With the deaths of 30 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Tuesday, Bangladesh’s COVID-19 death count now stands at 7,509.
During this timeline, 1,181 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 5,11,261.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Tuesday afternoon.
Currently, there are 49,189 active cases in the country.
Health authorities also reported 1,245 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,54,563.
In the last 24 hours, 167 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 14,820 samples and tested 14,588.
With this, a total of 31,99,115 samples were tested in the country.
Among the newly deceased, 19 were men and the rest 11 were women. Of them, 19 are from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, three from Khulna, one from Rajshahi, one from Rangpur divisions respectively.
As of Tuesday, a total of 5,717 men (76.13 per cent) and 1,792 women (23.87 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
The overall infection rate is 15.98 per cent while the recovery rate is 88.91 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.47 per cent.
