3 teachers among four jailed for HSC question leak

Four teachers and a student were sentenced to jail by separate mobile courts on charge of leaking question papers of the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in the city and Patuakhali district on Wednesday.
They were caught red-handed by the detectives during providing solution to questions over mobile phone early in the morning.
They are Sifat Jesmine, a Biology teacher of a college in the city, and her accomplice Mehedi Hassan, a student of Tejgaon College, Khalilur Rahman, a lecturer of Accounting of Akkel Ali College, and Shafiqul Islam, lecturer of Computer Science of Hazi Mokhter Ali Mridha College in Patuakhali, police said.
In the capital, Sifat Jesmine and Mehedi Hassan were caught red-handed from the capital’s Lalmatia in the morning. They were providing solution to questions over mobile phone during the ongoing Biology examination, said Jamal Uddin Mir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station. After interrogation, a mobile court Magistrate Md Tofazzal Hossain sentenced Sifat to two years’ imprisonment and Mehedy to one month jail, the OC said.
The mobile court found evidence that they got the leaked question paper from a Facebook page ‘RJ Rahat’.
In Patuakhali, Khalilur Rahman and Shafiqul Islam were arrested by detectives in the district around 10:00am. They took photos of Accounting question paper, our local correspondent reports quoting Khondaker Mostafizur Rahman, OC of Patuakhali Sadar Police Station.
A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Anu Das sentenced them each two years jail. The mobile court also fined Shafiqul Islam Tk 10,000, the OC added.
