Sylhet Correspondent :
Three idols were vandalised in the house of a female ward councillor of Sylhet City Corporation in Jatarpur on Tuesday .
Councilor Diba Rani Dey from the reserved seat of wards no 16, 17 and 18 alleged that her neighbour Abdul Matin damaged the idols of Goddess Durga, Saraswati and Ganesha, kept in her prayer room in the yard, after having a heated exchange with her driver. She filed a general diary.
However, Matin claimed Diba’s husband Manindra Dey vandalised the idols to frame him.
There has been a land dispute between the two families, said Sylhet Metropolitan Police officials, adding that earlier both Diba and Matin had accused each other in two cases and two GDs over the land dispute. Police is investigating the matter.
