'Monitoring team' formed: 3-day cleanliness campaign begins at city’s edn insts

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam on Wednesday said a three-day special cleanliness programme is being conducted at the educational institutions here to ensure safe environment for students amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the three-day cleanliness campaign at Gulshan Model School and College in the capital’s Gulshan-2 area.
Atiqul said the campaign is being conducted at a total of 443 government, private and semi-government primary, secondary schools and colleges by the DNCC, beginning on Wednesday.
But, he said, on September 11, the cleanliness programme will be carried out at the educational institutions where the second dose of COVID-19 is being administrated under the mass vaccination programme.
The DNCC mayor said initiatives have been taken to disinfect classrooms of the educational institutions and their surroundings, including playgrounds and rooftops.
Besides, he said, mosquito larva will be destroyed if there is any stagnant water in toilets or anywhere else.
Atiqul said ensuring a beautiful and healthy environment is very important for building the students as healthy and conscious citizens and that is why it is an urgent to keep every house and educational institution clean.
DNCC chief executive officer Md Selim Reza and DNCC senior officials and local councilors were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, all the educational institutions of the country have been instructed to form monitoring teams who will monitor academic activities of each institution.
A press release was issued on Wednesday signed by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Dr. Syed Md. Golam Faruk.
Each institution has been asked to form a monitoring team to supervise the institution to run its academic activities properly following the government’s health guidelines, read the release.
Earlier, a decision was taken to reopen the country’s all secondary and higher secondary educational institutions from September 12.
