The second phase of Biswa Ijtema, one of the biggest congregations of Muslims in the globe, is set to begin on Friday on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi, on the outskirt of the capital.The second phase of the congregation, being organised by Tablig Jamaat, will conclude on Sunday.The first phase of Biswa Ijtema ended on Sunday with the Akheri Munajat (concluding prayers).People from 16 districts attended the 1st phase of Ijtema.The congregation, also called the World Muslims’ Congregation, will start formally with religious sermons after Fajr prayers.Several lakh Muslims are expected to attend the Juma prayers at the Ijtema venue today.People from 16 districts (including Dhaka) will attend the second phase Biswa Ijtema.Ijtema is being held in two phases from 2012 to ease accommodation problem.Tight security measures have been taken for the event while several thousand members of different law enforcement agencies will remain deployed in Tongi.
