Two hundred and ninety new books arrived and 31 books were unveiled on Friday, the 6th day of the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela.
A good number of children mostly between eight and 15 flocked to the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela on Friday as it was the ‘Children Hours’. Today (Saturday) is also another day for children. Most of them came to the Boi Mela with their parents and relatives.
Sanjida Shupti, a 11-year old child, came to the Boi Mela with her father. She bought four storybooks. “She is very happy,” Shupti said.
A drawing competition for the children was held at 8:30am on the Bangla Academy premises. Artist Hashem Khan inaugurated the competition.
Of the new books, 53 are storybooks, 59 novels, 22 essay books, 58 poems, six on research, 23 children literature, eight on biography, one on drama, 17 on Science, two on travel, three on history, two on politics, four on health, one on religion, one on translation, two on Science Fiction and 28 others.
The new books arriving at the Boi Mela on Thursday were: Kuasha Café by Piash Mazid, Rabindranath, Gitanjali o Nobel Puroshkar by Ahmed Rafique, Ami Joddha Hobo by Mahbub Hasan Saleh, Biswa Kabita by Rezanul, Biswye Ja Kichu Prothom by Nilkomol Biswas, Mohioshi Nari Sufia Kamal by Dr Anu Mahmud, Megher Aral Theke by Kanika Rashid, Metamodern and other tendencies by Md Nurul Huda, Ghumonta Shundorir Golpo by Kajori Ray Chowdhury, Tomar Bari Kothay by A A Milone and E H Shefard, Kabi Nazruler Oshusthata by Dr Israfil Khan, Srijon Utsob by Romesh Chandra Biswas, Agey Chinta Porey Kaj by Sayedul Islam, Obelay by Moni Odhikari, Firey Esho by Shantonu Chowdhury, Desh and Somaj o Rastro Bhabna by Anupam Sen.
A discussion on “Rajanikanto Sener Sardhosoto Jonmobarshiki” was in the main podium of the Bangla Academy.
Professor Nurul Anwar presented the keynote paper at the discussion. Jamil Chowdhury presided over the function while Dipa Bandoapadhyai, Shikha Arefin and Luva Nahid Chowdhury discussed there, among others. A fascinating cultural festival was held in the evening.
