The government has taken initiative to impart quality IT and cyber security training to about 2,500 officers of ministries, departments and directorates to improve public sector efficiency and security of government services, officials said.
They said the World Bank financed ‘Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT)’ Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) took the initiative to build capacity of government officials for using ICT and ensure security of government services.
“We have laid emphasis on protecting our own IT system and cyberspace mainly due to expansion of online services that have ensured people’s easy access to public services,” State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak told BSS.
He said the ICT Division has taken various steps including enactment of cyber law and training of government officials at home and abroad for building their capacity to run the e-governance without interruption and cyber-attack.
“The capacity building of government officials is a must for public sector efficiency and establishing e-governance in line with government’s Digital Bangladesh vision,” said Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder.
He said as part of e-government initiative the government has put emphasis on paperless communication and making all public services online to ensure people’s easy access to it.
“It has become inevitable for the government to secure its services and protect its own IT system,” Sikder said, adding “the ICT Division wants to address the issues by enhancing public sector efficiency through quality training.”
According to the sources, the LICT project has contacted the global training institution ESI for Master’s Certificate training on IT Project Management which is accredited by George Washington University, USA.
Apart from this, National University of Singapore is also conducting training at e-Gov Leadership Centre on implementation of e-Government and National Enterprise Architecture, the sources said that besides organizing training in outside countries, the trainings are also being conducted in BCC through globally reputed institutions.
