BSS, Dhaka :
Twenty-five Bangladeshi IT talents have received IT Engineers Examination (ITEE) certificates, an international standardized examination of the IT professionals, presently recognized in 12 Asian countries. The ITEE is basically a national standardized examination of Japan for IT professionals where five to six lakh IT students and IT professionals attend every year.
Bangladesh was placed second among the seven Asian countries in its maiden international standardized IT Engineers Examination (ITEE), held in Dhaka last year.
The ICT division under Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry introduced ITEE here under a project titled “Capacity Building on ITEE Management” with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with a view to give global recognition to the skills, knowledge and experience of Bangladesh IT professionals. The number of pass outs in the 1st ITEE in Bangladesh is 25 with passing ratio of 15.8 per cent, that is, second high next to Vietnamese among six IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) member countries (Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) which promote common ITEE in Asian region. Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique, MP, today distributed ITEE certificates among the 25 local IT experts who passed the 1st ITEE examination at a ceremony at BCC (Bangladesh Computer Council) in the city. The Minister hoped that the certificate of ITEE will help local Bangladeshi IT professionals to get overseas jobs. “I am very pleased to know Bangladesh has marked very high passing ratio in the ITEE. It shows Bangladeshi IT professionals’ excellent competency not only in the country but also in the world,” he said. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima, Chief Representative of JICA, Bangladesh, Mikio Hataeda, University Grants Commission Member, Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain and Project Director of BD-ITEC, Dr Sk. Amzad Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
