A total of 23 sacrificial cattle were snatched along with the truck just near the Aminbazar Bridge in the city on Tuesday morning.
The estimated price of the snatched cattle is worth around Tk 15 lakh, trader Nur Mohammad said.
The cattle were brought from Benapole of Jessore district for sale in the Gabtali Cattle Market for sale ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul Azha festival.
Nur Mohammad urged the government to help return his cattle with the help of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police.
He said the miscreants numbering eight to ten snatched the cattle when they were about enter the Gabtali cattle market around 6:00am.
The truck was found later in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir area, he said.
He claimed that if the law enforcers were on duty in the area, the incident might have not been happened.
“The law enforcers usually patrol only in the filling stations and market places,” the trader said.
Gabtali Cattle Market’s Police Camp’ Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahinul Islam said that they didn’t know anything about the incident.
The truck driver might be involved behind the incident, he said.
