At least 20 people including women activists were injured in a post-polls violence centering seeking votes for the Awami League’s rebel candidate in the upcoming UP elections in Bhuapur upazila of Tangail on Saturday. It has been alleged that the activistsof boat candidate attacked rebel candidate’s supporters as they are seeking votes at Khokar Doba area of Sirajkandi Bazar area of the upazila.
As agitation is running high in the Sirajkandi area of Nikrail union due to the clash, additional police have been deployed to maintain a nonviolent atmosphere.
Abdur Razzak, uncle of rebel candidate was injured seriously. After rescuing him, he was admitted to Tangail General Hospital.
