Two workers were killed and five others injured as some sacks of cement fell on them while they were working at a warhouse in Old Meghna Ferry Ghat area in Bhairab upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Milon Miah,30, son of late Hekim Miah of Chanpur village in Bhairab upazila, and Muslem Miah,40, of Ramnagar village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district.
Witnesses said 36 workers were working at a cement warehouse of Dulal Chandra Saha in the area at about 4:00 pm.
Suddenly, some sacks of cement fell on eight workers, leaving Milon and Moslem Miah dead on the spot and five others injured.
The injured were admitted to Bhairab upazila health complex from where Mobarak Hossain, Malek Miah and Hefju Miah were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Officer-in-charge of Bhairab Police Station Badrul Alam Talukder confirmed the incident.
