2 more Mind Aid hospital staff confess

Two more Mind Aid Hospital staff confessed in a Dhaka court on Monday to their involvement in Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Anisul Karim’s death.
The employees are Manager Arif Mahmud Joy and Ward Boy Sajib Chowdhury. Metropolitan Magistrate Md Masud-ur-Rahman recorded their statements and later they were sent to the jail.
Adabor Police Station Officer-in-Charge and
Investigation Officer of the case Faruk Mollah, said that they were produced in the court as they wanted it.
On 10 November, 10 officials and staff of Mind Aid Hospital were put on a seven-day remand each in the case.
The 10 accused are the hospital’s Marketing Manager Arif Mahmud, Coordinator Redwan Sabbir, Kitchen Chef Masud, Pharmacist Md Tanvir Hasan; Ward Boys Jobayer Hossain, Tanim Mollah, Sajib Chowdhury, Ashim, Liton Ahmed, and Saiful Islam Polash.
According to the case statement, Anisul had been suffering from mental illness and was brought to Mind Aid for treatment at around 11:00am on Monday last.
The accused forcefully took the victim to the observation room of the hospital and beat him repeatedly, a CCTV camera footage showed.
The hospital staff informed that Anisul had fainted. And when the police officer’s relatives took him to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, he was declared dead.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Director of the hospital, Fatema Khatun was placed on a four-day remand in the case. Besides, another Director of the hospital, Neaz Morshed is now under treatment in a hospital of the city.
Three FIR listed accused of the case Abdullah Al Mamun, Sakhawat Hossain and Sajjat Amin are still on the run.
Anisul’s father, valiant freedom fighter Faizuddin Ahmed filed the case with Adabor Police Station of the city against 15 people.
