A team of customs Intelligence on Thursday seized 1.2 kilograms of gold bars and arrested two persons in this connection at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital.
The arrested persons have been identified as Abdul Matin, 43, and
Mohammad Abdul Aziz, 44, from Comilla district, custom official said.
Umme Nahida Akter, Assistant Director of the Custom Intelligence Depatrmrnt, said that Matin and Aziz landed at the airport from a flight (BG0087) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Kualalumpur at about 5:27am.
When they were going to the customs lounge of the airport, customs intelligence officials challenged them.
The officials searched their luggage and their bodies and recovered the gold bars weighing 1.2 kg, worth Tk 65 lakh from their possession, the official said.
