Two men died after drinking excessive liquor at a homeopathic shop in Malanchi Bazar of Baghatipra upazila on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Ziaur Rahman, 40, of Sonapatil village in the upazila and his relative Khokon, 40, hailing from Barishal division.
Officer-in-charge of Baghatipara Police Station, Ataur Rahman, said Ziaur and Khokon fell sick around 5:15 pm while they were taking liquor.
Later, they were taken to Baghatipara Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared Khokon dead and Ziaur died while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Police detained the owner of homeopathic shop for interrogation, the OC added.
