2-day seminar on climate and governance begins at DU

A two-day long seminar titled “Enhancing Climate Resilience Practice and Governance” began on Saturday at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Dhaka Univesity (DU) campus.
Disaster Science and Management department, Public Administration department of DU and Islamic Relief Bangladesh jointly organized the event.
DU Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad presided over the inaugural session while Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Finance Dr Md Abdur Razzak addressed the session as the chief guest.
Talking about the different initiatives of the present government to fight the adverse effects of climate change, Razzak said installation of modern instruments and awareness programmes are ongoing process to combat the impact of climate change.
Chairman of Disaster Science and Management department also Dean of the Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty of the university Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal delivered the welcome speech at the function while Chairman of Public Administration department Prof Dr. Akhter Hussain and Prof Dr Atik Rahman addressed the function, among others.
